    Capt. Brand served in the U.S. Air Force as an aircraft mechanic and loadmaster on the C-124 Globemaster. He then worked as a flight instructor until he volunteered to fly for Wings of Hope. His assignment involved flying a Cessna 206 on floats off the Amazon River in Peru. He then attended Southern Illinois University and obtained an Airframe and/or Powerplant certificate and a Bachelors Degree in Occupational Education. He flew the bush in Alaska for an entire winter season. His airline career included AirIllinois, Eastern Airlines, National Airlines, Pan American Airways, Braniff III, IASCO and United Airlines. He retired April 2004.
