Capt. Fleming started his aviation career in 1958 with the U. S. Navy. After Flight School in Pensacola, Florida, he flew from aircraft carriers in the Pacific Ocean while assigned to Air Group 14 as part of Task Force 77.
Completing military active duty he joined United Air Lines while continuing to fly with the U. S, Naval Reserve Force. After serving twenty nine years with united Air Lines and twenty years total Naval service., Captain retired from flight service in 1997.
