    Honored by:
Lt. Col. William J. Moore USAF

In April 1943, as a teenager and a private in the Army Engineers, I wrote a letter to General Hap Arnold. Received a hand-written letter from General Arnold giving me there days to meet a traveling cadet board. Within in thirty days I was and Aviation Cadet. It left my giant first sergeant standing in awe. This was the start of one of the best careers in aviation. Over twenty two years active duty in the Air Force as a Pilot, Navigator, Meteorologist and Aeronautical Engineer, serving as Commander of the Flight Test Engineering Division and a Test Pilot at Wright Patterson AFB along with other great assignments. After retiring from the Air Force became a Captain for United Airlines until mandatory retirement at sixty years of age.
