    Honored by:

Captain Putnam began his career as a United States Air Force Aviation Cadet during the Korean War and was rated as a Flight Navigator and Pilot. Most of his active duty flying was for a top secret special weapons unit. Then Major Putnam flew for the Wyoming Air Guard and an Air Force Reserve unit. During the quarter century that Captain Putnam flew for Western Air Lines he served the airline industry and his fellow pilots in several ALPA capacities.
After retiring from Western Air Lines, Captain Putnam continued to serve by providing free air transportation for medical patients. Consistent with his orientation to service, he was ordained a Permanent Deacon in the Roman Catholic Church where he continues to serve.
“The United States Air Force trained me for a career that a country boy from western Colorado never dreamed of, never heard of. Then Western Air Lines gave me that career. The Aviation Cadet Code of Honor – “I will not lie, cheat or steal, nor tolerate those who do” – carries on into the aviation world and serves it well. Through fifty plus years of flying: military, airline and general aviation, I am so very aware of what a class act the people in aviation really are.”
    “I am blessed.”
