On September 20, 2007 Captain Peter Caldwell flew his final flight with Continental Airlines, signifying his retirement after 28 years of service to the airlines, as well as 20 years of service to his country in the Navy and Navy Reserves.
Peter Caldwell was bom in Rushville, Illinois and grew up in Long Beach, California. He graduated from Long Beach City College with an Associates Degree in Architecture and from California State University, Long Beach, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Construction Technology.
He began his career in Long Beach, getting his private flight training, before entering the Navy and earning his commission. For 8 years he flew the P-3 Orion out of Moffat Field, California with deployments to the Pacific. In 1979 he resigned from active duty and began his airline career. He continued his commitment to the Navy Reserves, and retired as a Lieutenant Commander.
Peter began flying for Continental Airlines in 1979. He began his airline career stationed in Denver, Colorado on the DC-9. After 15 years of ups and downs with the airline he chose to continue with Continental when the Denver crew base closed, and moved to Houston, TX. He remained in Houston, for the following 13 years, and now will spend his retirement there.
Throughout his flying career he has flown various types of aircraft, including the Navy T-34, T-28, S-2, and P-3 B/C, as well as McDonnell Douglas DC-9, MD-80, Boeing B-727, B-767 200, and B-767/400. He has accumulated more than 25,000 hours of flight time.
Peter Caldwell has been submitted to the Wall of Honor by his daughters, ReAnn Rose, Krista Marie, and Tiffany Lynn Caldwell. Throughout our lifetimes we have seen his dedication to family, country, and career. We have been inspired by his passion for aviation. We have admired his achievements. Most of all, we are proud of him and everything he has accomplished. His example is our definition of success.
