    Carl F. Borchers had his first flight November 10, 1953 in an Aeronca Champ, at Westminster Airport, Westminster, Maryland. Carl soloed January 10, 1954 and received his Private Pilot Certificate on October 31, 1954 at Illini Airport, Urbana, Illinois at the age of twenty one. Carl went on to acquire his Airline Transport Pilot, Commercial Pilot certificate for single and multi-engine land and single engine seaplane, Flight Instructor single/multi engine instrument, Ground Instructor basic and advanced. Carl also graduated from Spartan College of Aeronautic, Tulsa, Oklahoma achieving a Power-plant and Airframe certificate. Carl has logged over 9, 000 hours of accident free flight hours. In addition to his flying accomplishments, Carl serviced in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1961 where he worked on and taught Electronic Aircraft Control Systems. Carl's Air Force tour included working on C119, C123 and C130 aircraft at Ardmore Air Force Base, Oklahoma, F102A at Niagara Falls, New York, and F106 at Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota. From 1961 to 1968 Carl along with his wife June owned and operated Borchers Flying Service, a Federal Aviation Administration Approved Flight School, Air Taxi Operator and Fixed Base Operator (FBO) in Tulsa and Tahlequah, Oklahoma. While at Tahlequah Carl and June (also a private pilot and ground instructor) taught ground school as Aviation Instructors at Northeastern State College. From 1968 to 1969 Carl flew as a Corporate Pilot for Sealed Power Piston Rings out of Muskegon, Michigan, flying a Beech H-18 and Beech Queen Air B-80. In 1969 Carl started working for the Federal Aviation Administration. Over the next twenty four years Carl spent countless hours devoted to aviation safety. Carl served as Principal Operation Inspector/Accident Prevention Specialist at Detroit Flight Standards District Office (FSDO), Ypsilanti, Michigan; Regional Accident Prevention Coordinator, New England Region, Boston, Massachusetts; Aviation Safety Inspector Instructor, Pilot Examiner Instructor, and Flight Instructor Refresher Program Instructor, FAA Aeronautical Center, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Accident Prevention Specialist, FSDO, Riverside, California; Accident Prevention Specialist, FSDO, Reno, Nevada; Accident Prevention Specialist, FSDO, San Jose, California; Air Safety Investigator and Instructor, Aviation Safety Division, Transportation Safety Institute, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
