    C. W. “Sam” Hamilton joined the Civil Aeronautics Administration on April 12, 1943 as an Assistant Airport Traffic Controller. In over 35 years of dedicated service, he received numerous citations for outstanding performance, including the Department of Transportation Secretary’s Award for Outstanding Achievement in Equal Opportunity and the Greater Miami Federal Executive Council’s Federal Employee of the Year. Sam was the founder of the FAA’s Cooperative Education Program and was the first chairman of the Miami Springs, Florida Drug Abuse Committee. From his first assignment in the Chattanooga, TN tower, he moved to Miami international Airport where he served as a Watch Supervisor, Facility Training Officer, and Operations Officer. He was also qualified on the ASR-4 radar. Sam Hamilton finished his career as Chief of the Opa Locka, FL tower. Devoted husband of Doris and loving father of Rick, Bill and Patti Hamilton.
