    Mr. Arthur S. Irish II

CDR Irish was a Naval Aviator from 1940 until his retirement in 1962. During WWII he flew anti-submarine patrols from bases up and down the U. S. Atlantic Coast. He was rated in a number of multiengine patrol craft including the PBM seaplane. He served as air operations officer on the U. S. S. Badoeing Strait, a “jeep” aircraft carrier during two tours off the coast of Korea during that conflict. He was the first Commander of VASH-2 during the late 1950s. VAH-2 transitioned from P2V patrol aircraft to the A3D Skywarrior, the Navy’s first atomic bomb carrying, carrier based, heavy bomber. He worked on spy satellite programs following his retirement from the Navy. He lived until his 80s.
