First solo was Sept 1943 in 40 hp Taylorcraft. Instructor was his brother, Ben Epps, Jr. Entered Naval Aviation and completed flight training July 1946. Served in Patrol Squadrons in Atlantic and Pacific Fleets flying Privateers (PB4Y-2) and Neptunes (P2V). Other Navy activities include flight instructor and maintenance officer. Retired after 24 years active duty in 1967.
