    CDR Glenn W. Ward, USN (Ret) joined the Navy in December 1941 and served on USS New Mexico and USS Medusa as an enlisted radioman in the Southwest Pacific during World War II. He was discharged in 1946, reentered the Navy in 1949 with a commission and commenced flight training at Naval Air Station Pensacola.

    With wings earned in 1950 he was assigned to Fighter Squadron VF-54 and completed two combat tours in the Korean War aboard USS Essex and USS Valley Forge. During that period he flew 110 combat missions in Douglas Skyraider aircraft. Combat awards earned included six Air Medals and two Navy Commendation Medals with combat "V."

    After Korea he served as an Advanced Flight Instructor followed by staff assignments, airborne early warning squadron duty, and duty at the Naval Air Systems Command headquarters in Washington.

    During the Vietnam War he was assigned as Executive Officer of Early Warning Squadron VAW-11 following which he served as Air Officer aboard USS Hornet while conducting combat operations in the Vietnam theater.

    CDR Ward served in the Navy though three wars and retired in 1974 after completing thirty years of active duty.
