CDR Harry Ferrier was an aircrew member of Torpedo Squadron Eight at the Battle of Midway, June 4, 1942. He was the only enlisted man of the squadron to survive the battle. His aircraft, a Grumman TBF-1 Avenger, was the only one of 21 aircraft flown by the squadron to return from the battle. Two pilots also survived, bringing to three of 48 the number of airmen who survived that day.
