    Air and Space Friend

    Honored by:
    L. E. Mccullough

My interest in aviation dates back to 1937 when at the tender age of 3, my father took me for my first airplane ride. He maintained a private pilot’s license well into the 1950’s and I flew with him at every opportunity. Piper, Waco, Curtis, Taylorcraft, Aeronca and Stinson are among the planes I remember flying. I attended the U.S. Naval Academy with the class of 1957 with every intention of becoming a naval aviator, but failing eyesight thwarted my ambition. I had a successful 21 year career in the surface Navy following graduation but maintained an interest in aviation and related subjects. That interest continues even today.
