    CDR Peter Corrao enlisted as a Fireman Recruit in September 1987. Following Nuclear Power Electrician's Mate "A" School graduation in April 1988, he was accepted to the Naval Academy Preparatory School in Newport, Rhode Island, and received his commission from the United States Naval Academy in May 1993. Following flight school he was winged an Unrestricted Naval Aviator in March 1996.

    CDR Corrao reported to his first operational squadron, the HC-5 Providers, in Guam flying the veritable H-46 Sea Knight where he made multiple 5th and 7th Fleet deployments until his departure in October 1999.

    Following H-3 Sea King and C-12 Heron training, CDR Corrao reported to NAS Patuxent River as a Search and Rescue pilot in January 2000 to October 2002.

    CDR Corrao then reported aboard USS Duluth (LPD 6) November 2002 as the Air Boss. Before his departure in July 2004 USS Duluth had participated in Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. While onboard Duluth, he also qualified as Officer-of-the-Deck (underway) and Tactical Action Officer.

    CDR Corrao returned to the HC-5 Providers / HSC-25 Island Knights as a depart head where he served as Detachment FOUR Officer in Charge and squadron Operations Officer flying the MH-60S Knighthawk. He departed in December 2006 for Naval Postgraduate School, where he was awarded a Master's degree in Computer Science. From 2009 to 2012 he was assigned as the Operations Officer for Fleet Coordinating Group where he worked directly for Commander, 7th Fleet as the standing Naval and Amphibious Liaison Element. In 2012 CDR Corrao reported aboard the Joint Warfare Analysis Center where he was the Cyber Project Lead. CDR Corrao retired from Active Duty in August, 2015.
