    Honored by:

"Chuck" started his aviation/space career by dreaming of flying while working on the farm in upstate New York. He worked towards fulfilling those dreams by joining the U.S. Navy at the start of the Korean War. He trained as an Aviation Electronic Technician and survived numerous carrier launches and recovers while flying in the North American AJ-1 "Savage" nuclear attack aircraft. Chuck participated in two Korean War cruises aboard the Ticonderoga class aircraft carriers USS Oriskany (CV-34) and USS Lake Champlain (CVA-39), part of Task Force 77.
After his time in the Navy, Chuck attended San Diego State University graduating with a degree in physics. He immediately began his involvement in the U.S. space program as an engineer working on numerous missile systems including the Army Nike AJAX and Hercules anti-aircraft missile defense systems and the US Navy Talos, Terrier and Tartar missile systems.
He never lost his love for flying and in 1974 he accomplished his goal of becoming a private pilot. Since then he has flown into nearly two hundred different airfields across America, logging over 1300 safe light aircraft flying hours. He continued to serve his country by becoming a Safety Officer for the US Air Force Auxiliary Civil Air Patrol (CAP). He has flown numerous real world search and rescue missions and is passing the torch to the next generation of aviation enthusiasts by training them to "fly safe"!
