Chuck was born and raised in Abington, Pennsylvania graduating from Abington High School in 1963. Chuck received his pilot's license and taught flying while attending San Diego State University in the 1960s. Flying in his famous SAIA Marchetti F-260, Chuck was the founder and lead pilot of Team America, an award winning aerobatic team. In 1997, Chuck created and flew the Jane's Combat Simulations F-260 aerobatic routine. He continued flying airshows until his death. At the time of his death, he had over 9,600 hours logged in over 70 different types of aircraft.
According to Lischer's website, Lischer claimed to be the "world's most experienced F-260 air show pilot" with more than 30 years experience and more than 1,000 shows performed.
Charles F. "Chuck" Lischer Jr., age 61, of Cameron Park CA, was killed on June 27, 2006, while piloting a BD-5 jet over Ocean City MD, in a military training exercise for the Department of Defense.
