Charles "Chick" Foley has been serving the flying public as an Air Traffic Controller (ATC)/Manager spanning 5 decades. With the coming of the year 2000 it will reach into a sixth. He started in the fifties as an ATC in the Air Force stationed in France. After that he joined the Federal Aviation Administration where he has worn a variety of hats. Currently he manages the "state of the art" tower/tracon (traffic control) in Santa Barbara, CA. He also serves as the manager for the Central California Hub. Asked when he'll retire in 1999 he said, "I love what I do, not all people can say that. If that ever changes, I'll retire."
