    Enlisted in US Air Corp Oct. 1942 Pilot training in May 1943 and was assigned as a B-24 pilot upon graduation. Joined 720 Squadron, 450th Bomb Group, 47th Bomb Wing, 15th Air Force in Manduria, Italy Sept. 1944. Flew 50 combat missions over Germany, Austria, Yugoslavia, and Northern Italy. Earned the Distinguished Flying Cross. Back to US as war in Europe was ending in May 1945.
    Reserve status Aug. 1946 and recalled to active duty in the 64th Squadron, 43rd Bomb Wing, at Davis Monthan AFB, AZ, May 1951. Flew B-50 during the Korean Conflict, then B-47 at Davis Monthan AFB, Dyess AFB, and Plattsburg AFB: Squadron Operations Officer at Dyess AFB, and Wing Scheduling Officer at Plattsburgh AFB.
    Was assigned to 28th Squadron, 22nd Air Force, Military Airlift Command Nov. 1965. Flew C-124 supply missions to Vietnam Dec. 1965 to Nov. 1967.
    Served in Vietnam Nov. 1967 to Nov. 1968. Air Lift Control Element Commander at Chu Lai supporting the Americal Division and the Marine Fighter Base. Da Nang, Jan. 1968, supporting the 3rd Marine Corps under siege at Khe Sanh and I Corps Area including the time of the Tet Offensive of Jan. 1968.
    Returned to McClellan AFB, 55th Squadron, 9th Wing, Air Weather Service. Military Airlift Command. Last assignment was Commander, 9th Wing Headquarters Squadron.
    Awarded three Air Medals during service and attained rank of Lt. Colonel. Retired.January 1973
