    Honored by:

First Lieutenant CHARLES R REYHER, 0742456, 4Ist Bombardment Squadron, 501st Bombardment Group, Air Corps, United States Army. For extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight during aggressive bombardment of the Ube liquefaction plant at Ube, on 5 August 1945. As Airplane Commander of a B-29 aircraft, performed this mission of a precision bombing attack at night from a base in the Marianas Islands against the target on Honshu. Flying at night, with a heavy bomb load, and with airplane compressibility over the target at less than one minute intervals, in as much as attacks were by single aircraft not in formation, this individual showed exceptional ability in reaching the target and being plotted by continuous radar scope photos directly throughout the target. As a result of this strike in which this Airplane Commander participated, the target was destroyed, so much that a great part of it is now under water. During this strike the B-29 aircraft were over the home islands of Japan for two hundred nautical miles from Landfall to Land's end. The cool determination and high degree of skill displayed by this individual resulting in the successful accomplishment of the mission, reflects great credit on himself and the Army Air Forces.
