I spent 26 years of flying in the Air Force. The first 16 years I accumulated 7,616 hours flying the B-29, KC-135 and the B-58.
I was an Aircraft Commander, instructor pilot, and evaluator.

The last 10 years I accumulated an additional 3,400 hours flying the F-4. I was a Squadron Commander and Director of Flight Operations.

I went on to work another 20 years for Learjet Corporation. I started as a test pilot and eventually became Director of Flight operations.

Major Chester L. Eby distinguished himself by extraordinary heroism while in a flight of four F-4C aircraft over hostile territory in Southeast Asia on 23 June 1967. On that date Major Eby, aircraft commander in a strike force executed against a vital railroad yard, delivered his ordnance with outstanding accuracy under extremely intense fire from hostile forces. As a result of tills highly successful strike, the railroad yard was put out of commission and traffic along the entire rail line was seriously affected. The outstanding heroism and selfless devotion to duty displayed by Major Eby reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force,

Major Chester L. Eby distinguished himself by extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an F-4C Aircraft Commander in Southeast Asia on 7 July 1967. On that date, Major Eby participated in a flight of four aircraft as aerial escort for two reconnaissance aircraft obtaining photographs along a heavily defended route. Despite intense antiaircraft strong threat of hostile interceptor attack, Major Eby was constantly positioning himself to protect the escorted aircraft. His instant action and aid when one of the escorted aircraft was hit by ground fire was instrumental in the successful completion of the mission. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Major Eby reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.

Lieutenant Colonel Chester L. Eby distinguished himself by extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an F-liD Aircraft Commander in Southeast Asia on 20 March 1971. On that date, Colonel Eby was scrambled from alert status to fly a mission in support of friendly ground forces deep within hostile territory. Despite intense small arms fire from hostile forces and restricted run-in headings due to the close proximity of friendly forces, Colonel Eby made numerous low altitude bombing passes resulting in numerous secondary explosions. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Colonel Eby reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
