Chris Johnson began his adult life by graduating from Stanford university with BS and MS degrees in electrical engineering. He then began a 25 year career as an officer in the United States Navy where he served in Vietnam, the Persian Gulf conflict, and several other brush fire conflicts around the world. He rose to the rank of Captain, commanded a guided missile frigate, was the commissioning Navigator of the famous battleship New Jersey, and served on several Navy aircraft carriers. This career began his love affair with aviation, and during this time he was the proud shipmate of many types of Navy and Air Force fixed wing and helicopter aircraft. He also earned his private pilot's license, further solidifying his familiarity with and love of flying. After the Navy Mr. Johnson worked for 15 years at the Northrop Grumman corporation, a defense aerospace company headquartered in Northern Virginia. Upon retiring from Northrop Gruman he has served for six years as a docent for the Udvar Hazy museum and leads groups on tours of this facility.
