Clifford Schaefer was a technical sergeant in the US Army Anti-Aircraft Artillery from 1950 until 1953. He was on a train in the U.S. headed for Korea when the war ended. Following his time in the Army, Schaefer was employed by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for 45 years as a Group Supervisor, Foreman, and Working Leader in the Master Mechanic Dept. 37 Metrology Lab, Constant Temperature Room, inspecting tools, gages, precision equipment to tolerances of 5 millionths of an inch, and any equipment that requires tractability to the National Bureau of Standards in Washington.
