Graduated from 55-C Aviation Cadet Pilot Training in 1954 at Williams AFB, Az. F-86F Training at Nellis AFB, 1955. I am proud to say that, Korean ACE Lt. Hank Buttleman was my Flight Instructor. Spent 1955 and 1956 at K-55 Osan, Korea. Bergstrom AFB, Austin Tex. 1956-58. On my third F-84F training flight I experienced a Flame Out directly over Austin. Upon declaring an emergency, I set up a for a dead stick landing back at Bergstrom AFB. The landing was suc-cessful without damage to the F-84F. In 1958 I check-ed out in the F-101A for TAC. That year I was one of six who were transferred to the ADC to fly the F-101B at Dover AFB, Del. From 1963-66 I was sent to Soest-erberg, AB, The Netherlands to fly the F-102. Next assignment was Davis Monthan AFB, for six months of training in F-4 Phantom. In 1967-68 I was at Danang, Vietnam, 366th TFW, 480th TFS. I was to fly 134 Com-bat Missions, 100 of which were Up North. While there Col. Boots Blesse was to ask me to serve three months at the Command Post; and still fly my regular combat missions. This was to be perhaps my most memorable experience. While flying combat certainly had it's moments it's happenings were mission accomplish. The Command Post duties allowed me to make decisions of my own assessment. I found this highly stimulating!

1968-70 was spent on the USAFA Football staff. 1970-72 was then spent at George AFB, Victorville, Ca. as an F-4 Phantom Flight Commander/Instructor. I was to be promoted to Lt. Col. in 1971 where I was asked to be the Wings Chief of Safety. A year later I was sent Air South, Naples. Italy 1972-73. My Commander was a General Richard Ellis, a man that I consider a plea-sure to not only have served under, but have known him as a personal friend after my retirement. My decision for an early retirement was most difficult for I had turned down a Below The Zone promotion to O-6.
