Clyde learned to fly by working at the Cable airport in Upland, CA. Like his father he is a natural pilot. He flew for United Airlines from 1951 to 1987 when he retired. He received several awards at United for programs he initiated for pilot training and for his roll in the transitioning of Pan American's Pacific routes and pilots over to United. He continues to be very active in the IAC and the IAC sponsored aerobatic contests. He has received many awards from the IAC for his work in promoting the organization and the sport..
