After graduating Pensacola ’42, he flew dive bombers in the South Pacific earning the DFC (Distinguished Flying Cross) and 6 Air Medals. Designated Navy helicopter pilot #312, he flew the Hiller flying platform and was the first military aviator to fly the Sikorsky CH 53-A. He was my grandfather and my best friend.
