    CMSgt Cooper had a distinguished 20-year Air Force career. He held many key positions that led to the success of the Titan II (ICBM), Atlas-Agena, Delta II, and the Space Shuttle programs.

    CMSgt Cooper was one of the "original seven" assigned to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration during the early days in the Shuttle program while an active Air Force member.

    Following retirement from the Air Force, Chester continued working in the Space Shuttle program and served as a senior program manager for Thiokol Propulsion at Kennedy Space Center. Chester was recognized for his dedication when he received the astronauts' personal award, the Silver Snoopy.
