Born Iowa in 1911 into a farming family. Went to Washington in the 1930s as a young woman to work for the federal government. She learned to fly, got her pilot license, met Kenneth Finn, also a pilot and they were married in 1940. See the profile for Kenneth Finn. She was a member of the 99s, a group of pioneering women flyers, which also had Amelia Earhart as a member. Wished to become a plane ferry pilot during WW2 but was frozen into her position at the Civil Aeronautics Administration.
