    Achievements, Involvements and Special interests in aviation, 1927-2004:

    1927 - Cut school as 9 year old to visit Curtis field at Mineola L.I. New York
    to watch Lindberg(With Spirit, St Louis)-Chamberlain (With Bellanca 140)-Byrd (With Tri Motor Ford) "Warming up" for flight to Paris.

    1939 - Quit Syracuse University to enlist in flying cadet pilot school.

    1940 - Graduated from Randolph & Kelly fields in Texas. Received wings and 2nd Lt bars and kept in Training Command as a pilot instructor.

    1941- Instructed cadets in B-10. B-12, B-18 and Lockheed Hudson's at Barksdale field. Because of my complaints about tragic death of fellow instructor in Lockheed Hudson crash and fire I was made Officer in charge of crash crew training. 6 months later we had a school for crash crews at Keescer AFB. I received commendation.

    Dec 1941 - Chief of instructors school at B-17 4E Pilot school Sebring, Florida.
    Flew 1000 hours 1st year instructing. Helped open Lockbourne, Hobbs and Roswell as B-17-4E pilot schools- Fort Worth, Smyrna and Liberal as B-24, 4E pilot schools.

    1943-44 - Assigned HQ training command Fort Worth as staff officer in charge all 4E pilot programs. 12,000 B-17's, 20,000 B-24's were ordered by F.D.R and congress in 1940. Training schools had to have aircrews trained to take delivery. We made it!

    1944 - CO B-29 pilot school Lowry Field. Denver Colorado.

    1945 - Escorted training command CO. Lt Gen Barton K. Yount to visit customers of 4E schools throughout Pacific Area.

    1946 - Deputy CO 509th B-29 Bomb Wing on project "Cross Roads". 2 nuclear detonations at Bikini Atoll in Marshall Island to record employment of weapons and blast-heat-radiation-pressure-etc. Coordinated production of manual "Employment of nuclear weapons by B-29 1946." Delivered manual to C/S USAF in April 1946.

    1948 - Project officer 7th Air Division for a movement of 7 B-29 squadrons
    with nuclear weapons to RAF bases in East Anglia, England (to threaten Soviets to "Ease Up" on blockade of Berlin) UK RAF airmen and USAF airmen were integrated in all base services. Berlin airlift ended with 20,000 tons/day in 1949.

    1952-55 - Chief of Training Aids Office HQ USAF. Bought 1st simulator (B-50) and coordinated purchase of simulators for all new aircraft.

    1955-56 - CO. 341st Bomb Wing (B47) Abilene, TX and 97 Bomb Wing B47 El Paso. TX. Flew air alert missions against Soviets Borders from SAC bases in England, Guam. Spain, Morocco. Japan and Alaska, using threat of thermo nuclear hydrogen bombs as Air Force response to "Massive USA Retaliation" program of Sec of State John Foster Dulles and our national administration.

    1960-63 - NATO Duty as Strategic Air Command Specialist at NATO military and political headquarters in Paris.

    1963 - National War College Washington, DC- made study trip to Africa and completed master’s degree in international affairs.

    1964 - NATO Desk Chief- Joint Chiefs of Staff Washington, DC.

    1965-70 - Air Attaché US Embassy, Tel Aviv, Israel. Coordinated 1st US military sales to Israel when De Gaulle boycotted spares shipment for French equipment at the beginning of "6-Day War". Prior to sale of A-4's and F-4's all Israeli equipment was French. Obtained Mig 23 aircraft and tons of soviet armor and SA2's anti aircraft missiles from Israeli at end of war for US examination and exploitation.

    1970 - Retired Browntown VA, (105 Acre Farm), 10,500 hours total flight
    time, 1,000 civilian time. Hold current FAA pilot license.
