Enlisted USAF 1951. Commissioned and rated pilot 19 December 1952. Served at every organizational level from detachment through Headquarters USAF. Graduate of Squadron Officers School. Air Command and Staff College and British Royal College of Defense Studies.
Served as chief of operations of Joint Contingency Task Group that conducted raid on Son Tay Prisoner of War camp in North Vietnam in 1970. Served as commander, 317th Tactical Airlift Wing 1977 – 1979. Accumulated 6,500 flying hours including 345 combat hours in Vietnam.
Retired May 1981.
