    Mac was born in Pope, Miss. on 11/20/1929. He graduated from high school in 1946, and from Mass. College in 1949 with a Bachelors Degree. He began his Air Force career in 1950. He served as a weather equipment operator until 1951; then he began pilot training as an Aviation Cadet. He graduated as a 2nd Lt. in 1952. As a fighter pilot, he flew 100 missions in an F-84 in the Korean War and 156 missions in an F-105 in the Vietnam War. He was also an F-105 Squadron Commander. Other career actions were as a pilot in the atomic and h-bomb tests at Eniwetok, NM; also as a jet fighter test pilot at the Nevada Proving Grounds. He retired in 1980 as the director of personnel, Kirtland AFB, NM.
