    Honored by:

    Earned civil pilot license under the Civil Pilot Training Program in 1939 at Rhode Island State College. Entered Air Corp in July 1941. Earned pilots wings(Air Corps) in 1943 and became B-17 bomber pilot. Assigned to 390th Bomb Group in England in 1944 where I flew 31 combat missions as a B-17 bomber pilot. In 1948 and 1949 flew as a pilot with the 60th Transport Carrier Group on the Berlin Airlift.
    Spent next 17 years as a SAC bomber pilot and a USAF Civil Engineer. This lead to a Vietnam tour in 1968 as commander of the 555th “Red House” Engineer Group.
    Returned to Vandenberg AFB in 1969 when I retired from active duty in 1971.
