    Born 24 August 1936 in Roanoke, Virginia. Graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute, class of 1959. Entered United States Marine Corps the same year. Designated Naval Aviator 1961. Primary aircraft, A-4 Skyhawk Attack Aircraft. Two combat tours in run (1965, 1969). Over 230 combat missions. Served with 1st Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company 1963, 1964. Parachute qualified with 173rd Airborne. Master's Degree in International Relations, Marshall University, 1974. Served Commandant as Assistant Legislative Officer to United States Congress 1976 - 1980. Retired 1988. Medals include Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal with Strike Force No. 16, Navy Commendation Medal with Combat "U", Combat Action Ribbon, Presidential Unit Citation and others. Wife: Ella Mae Bailey. Two children: Kimberly Sue and Michele Lee. Remarried 1987 following death of first wife. Wife: Patricia Lynn Hakes; Stepsons: Aric Israel Noboa and Rene Carlos Noboa.
