Ms. Patricia L. Veer
Colonel Emil L. Veer, USMC Ret., used his G.I. Bill, earned while serving in the Vietnam War, to learn to fly.
His passion for flight, as well as service, led him to Civil Air Patrol Search and Rescue. His dedication took him through the executive positions to Vice Commander of the Oregon Wing. He had been selected to be Commander, but just one month short of taking that position, he lost his life on June 12, 1999, in a plane crash while mentoring another pilot flying an Air Force requisitioned special mountain flying training mission.
He loved flying. His family is extremely proud of him, and considers him one of America's heroes. It would be an honor to his memory, and for us, to have his name placed on the Wall of Honor at the National Air and Space Museum Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center.
Wall of Honor profiles are provided by the honoree or the donor who added their name to the Wall of Honor. The Museum cannot validate all facts contained in the profiles.
