Colonel Isley graduated from the University of Michigan in 1963. He received his commission in the Air Force through the ROTC program. He entered active duty in 1964 and received hid pilot wings in November 1964. Colonel Isley competed 22 years in the USAF with rated time in the T-37, T-33, T-38, AT-38, F-4 and F-111. After his retirement, he continued working in aviation by contract work for the Defense Department.
