Col. Barneby was an Aviation Cadet following his graduation from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo as an Electrical Engineer.
He served as an officer in the 8th Air force in England, during World War II. He was heavily involved in early radar development efforts.
After the war he remained involved in CA & NV National Guard & Army Reserve activities. He retired as a Col. USAR in 1978.
A private pilot, he was employed at Hoover Dam during his career as a Test Engineer.
His wife Ethlyn and two sons survive him.
