    Wall of Honor Level:
    Air and Space Friend

    Honored by:
    Mr. Dick Carter

Born August 27, 1920, Jack grew up in Coronado, California. He was a student at San Diego State College and left to join the Army Air Corp in February of 1941. He was class 41-G, graduating in September 1941, as 2nd Lt. During his Air Force career, which spanned 30 years, Jack piloted such classic planes as the P-51 Mustang, the fighter jet F-102 and mastered the flights of everything from the Stearman to later jet aircraft. Jack participated in the first H-bomb experiment at Eniwetok and Kwajalien. He was a top gun before Tom Cruise was born.
Retiring as Colonel in 1970, Jack and his family re-located to San Luis Obispo. There he continued to devote his time to family, friends and interests that he loved dearly, such as the SLOFLYRS, a radio controlled model airplane club, as well as a good game of golf with his nine handicap.
The inspiring qualities of Jack were his gracious hospitality to all people, his warm smile and his passion for giving. Among Jack’s philanthropic efforts were the preservation and protection of the country’s national parks and the Archaeological Conservancy of which he and his wife were board members.
Jack passed away March 29, 2004 in San Luis Obispo, CA. He will be missed by many.
