Commissioned in USAF in 1951 upon graduation from West Point. Flew jet fighters and bombers for ten years before attending graduate school, MS in Astronautical Engineering. Member of a unique streamlined Air Force System Program Office (SPO) responsible for management of the design, development, production, launch, on-orbit operations, and file bucket re-entry of the world’s first successful satellite photo reconnaissance system and recovery of a man-made object (film) from space (called CORONA by the CIA). Director of Engineering of the Fleet Satellite Communications SPO. Director of Program Control/Financial Manager of the Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) Program Office.
