    Honored by:
Mr. Laurence W. De Muth Jr.

Having received his commission as a 2nd Lieutenant at the end of World War I, Colonel DeMuth started his military career in the U.S. Army Cavalry. He retained his commission through the 1920s and the 1930s and early in 1941 was called to active duty with the Army Air Corps. Because he was a Professor of Law at the University of Colorado when he was recalled to active duty in 1941, he was assigned to teach ground training to Air Corps cadets at Kelly Army Air Field in San Antonio, Texas. He became Director of Ground Training at Kelly and was then transferred to Dodge City Army Air Field, a Martin B-26 Marauder training base. He first served as the Director of Ground Training and later he became the Executive Officer at that location. His final assignment during World War II was that of Executive Officer at Midland Army Air Field #1, a bombardier training base, in Midland, Texas. He completed his military career as the Commander of the Air Force Reserve Unit at the University of Colorado.
