Colonel (Retired) Lewington S. Ponder, United States Army, is a commercial pilot, Airman Certificate #13751-40, with airplane single engine land & sea, airplane multi-engine land, instruments and inspector (airplane and instruments) ratings. He learned to fly in 1940 in the Civilian Pilot Training Program while a student at Syracuse, New York, and has logged over 4,000 hours in all types of airplanes. Colonel Ponder served in the infantry in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam.
