    Joined Navy in '43 at age of 17; later entered flight training; switched to Marines in '46. Released from active duty in '48. Recalled in '51 and flew 101 missions with Marine Fighter Squadron 115 in Korea, '52-52. Recipient of Distinguished Flying Cross. After 3 years instructor duty, transitioned to helicopters; had peace-time deployments from easter Med. to western pacific. Vietnam '66-67 was a staff job, but did fly copter missions. After 3 years in Pentagon, retired in '72 from duty as Air Officer, 2nd Marine Division. Flew props, jets, and afterburners. Flew bi-wings, straight wings, bent wings (Corsairs), swept wings, and rotary wings. Could fly anything ith wings--even flew the cat after he ate the canary!
