    Born 23 Jan. 1920. Private Pilot license July 1941. Army Air Corps aviation cadet 3Nov. 1941. Military pilot 20 May 1942. Command Pilot May 1957. Master Missileman Badge 1963. Retired from USAF Aug. 1969. Commercial Pilot license, land and sea, instrument and helicopter ratings.
    Notable Events: Piloted a WB-47 assigned to U. S. Weather Bureau Hurricane Research project headed by Dr. Bob Simpson. Flew first programmed high altitude penetrations of hurricanes. Flew 20 missions of up to eight hours doing basic high altitude weather research in hurricane prone areas and penetrated all hurricanes that year. During the Holland floods Feb. 1953 flew a USAF Air Rescue Service SA 16 Amphibian to Holland in the early stage of the disaster. Learning there were people marooned on a dike near Bruinisse, Holland flew tow missions making night water landings on a canal, maneuvered the amphibian against the dike to pick up the people and flew them to safety.
