Richard D. Newbold was born in Reno, Nevada on 3/31/51. He attended local schools and received four degrees from the University of Nevada in Reno. He entered a dual baccalaureate program and in 1975 received degrees in Arts & Sciences and Medical Sciences. He graduated from medical school in 1980 and trained in emergency medicine. He finished a master’s degree in biology in 1985. Richard joined the Nevada Air National Guard in Reno in 1986. He became a Flight Surgeon in 1988. For 12½ years he was the 152nd Medical Squadron Commander and is currently the State Air Surgeon for Nevada.
