    Colonel Allen entered Officer Training School 2 April 1968, graduating as a Second Lieutenant 27 June 1968. He graduated from Undergraduate Navigator Training at Mather Air Force Base (AFB), California on 6 April 1970 and attended F-4 Replacement Training at Davis Monthan AFB Arizona, graduating in January 1971. Assigned to the 390 Tactical Fighter Squadron (TFS) at DaNang Air Base (AB), Vietnam; he flew 209 combat missions (15 over North Vietnam) during the next year. He was assigned to the 492TFS, 494TFS and 48Tactical Fighter Wing (TFW) Operations Plans Division at RAF Lakenheath, England over the next four and a half years. He attended Basic Intelligence Officer training at Lowery AFB, Colorado between September 1976 and March 1977. He was then assigned as an Intelligence Analyst to Headquarters Tactical Air Command (HQ TAC), Langley AFB, Virginia until May 1980. After attending F-4 Refresher Training at Homestead AFB, Florida, he was assigned to the 480TFS at Spangdahlem AB, Germany where he was an Instructor Weapons System Officer and Flight Commander. In July 1982, he became Chief of the Scheduling and Control Division and the Operations Plans Inspector on the United States Air Forces Europe (USAFE) Inspector General (IG) team. In July 1984, he became Chief of the USAFE IG North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Inspection Team, which inspected non-US strike units throughout Europe. In January 1985, he became Chief of Intelligence for the 552 Tactical Control Wing (TCW), Tinker AFB, Oklahoma where he supervised intelligence support to the wing's Airborne Warning And Control System (AWACS) Squadrons as well as the Compass Call Squadron at Davis Monthan AFB, Arizona and the Tactical Airborne Command and Control Squadron at Kessler AFB, Mississippi. From August 1986 until July 1987, he was a USAF Research Associate at the Hoover Institute, Stanford University. For the next two and a half years he was assigned to the Air Staff as Deputy Chief of the Saudi Division, Director International Relations. He was a Division Chief on the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) staff for the next three years and finished his career as a Deputy Director of Intelligence on the Joint Staff supporting the National Military Command Center (NMCC). He retired as a Colonel in February 1995. Colonel Allen is married to the former Jeannette Yvonne Rodrigues; they have one daughter Dannette Allen Bronaugh and two grandchildren Taylor Jeanne Bronaugh and Robert Allen Bronaugh.
