    Born in Greenville, NC in 1926, at age 17 while attending N.C.S.VeVa he joined the U.S.A.A.F... Selected for Officer Training School, Roy became a pilot. He flew in the Berlin Air Lift. Assignments include Wing Commander, 38th Air Division. Chief of National Emergency Airborne Command, Washington, DC. War College-DC. .He corrected defiencies in survivability of the communication of the Airborne Center. Roy was Wing Commander in S0. GA for the 38th Air Division. Col. Harris was the last Commander of McCoy AFB (now Orlando Int. Airport). Commendations include Legion of Merit, Air Force Commendation Medal, and Joint Chiefs of Staff Meritorious Service Medal.
