    Tobe Gooden began his aviation career in the US Air force Academy. After graduation, he spent twenty-one years of active duty with the Air Force flying fighter aircraft. These included the F-4, A-10, and F-16. During his tours of duty, he was based in Vietnam, Korea, Europe, and the United States. He retired from the Air Force in 1987 and flew for a major airline where he flew the B-737 and retired in 2003. He also flew in numerous air shows over the years in a MIG 15. He ended his air show career when his partner, Jimmy Ross, was killed flying an F-86 in an air show in the Caribbean.
