    Begun in the 1950s as a control-line airplane flying club by first president Frank Castro; the club was called the Balsa Bugs. Incorporated on May 16, 1980 with the state of Connecticut as the Connecticut Balsa Bugs, the name changed again in the February 16, 1994 to its present name, The Connecticut Model Airplane Club. Currently with 88 members, the club has earned not for profit status. It is totally involved in all aspects of radio-controlled aeromodelling and community service.
