    Mr. Paul Ryan

During his nearly 44 years with the United States Navy and Applied Physics Laboratory, Fremont Clark contributed significantly to the success of the many programs in which he participated. His major area of activity was radio, communications and field engineering -- both on land and at sea. He was also an avid Ham Radio operator, and he loved to study the stars.
Fremont was a widely recognized navigation and communications authority. He served as Navigation and Communications Officer for many at-sea tests while assigned to the Laboratory's Fleet Systems and Space Departments. He also contributed substantially to the success of the Meteorological and Atmospheric Profiles Program for power plant sightings, which APL conducted in conjunction with the State of Maryland. Towards the end of his career, he performed ably as Assistant Payload engineer on the HHILAT I program.
Fremont loved the land, the sea and the skies. Throughout his life, he strove to gain more knowledge in these areas. He continually developed his technical competence, while at the same time accepting new challenges with enthusiasm.
