Distinguished Flying Cross citation, General Orders Number 5970, 24 June 1968:

For heroism while participating in aerial flight evidenced by voluntary action above and beyond the call of duty in the Republic of Vietnam. Chief Warrant Officer Jenkins distinguished himself by exceptionally valorous action on 19 April 1968, while serving as pilot of a CH-54A helicopter during a combat support mission in the A Shau Valley, Republic of Vietnam. After receiving a request for equipment, Chief Warrant Officer Jenkins volunteered for the mission. Under intense enemy anti-aircraft fire which had downed several other helicopters, Chief Warrant Officer Jenkins continued the approach. He successfully completed the mission showing complete disregard for his own safety. Chief Warrant Officer Jenkins’ outstanding flying ability and devotion to duty are in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit and the United States Army.
