D. Glenn Aument served in the US Air force from 1951 to 1961, leaving the service as a first lieutenant. He pursued a career in commercial aviation flying for Eastern Airlines for 23 years. During this time he flew the Martin 404, the Constellation series of aircraft, the DC-6 and DC-7, the Electra and the DC-9.
