Mr. Dale Leroy Johnson (born 1943 in Flint Michigan), with a BSE degree in Meteorology from the University of Michigan (1966), started working in Alabama at the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center in 1966 and continued working there throughout his professional career. He has contributed to the Nations space program in providing applied natural environments as input toward the design, development, testing and operations of various NASA launch and space vehicle programs. In statistically applying the winds and the thermodynamic parameters of the atmosphere for use in various NASA engineering studies. He has numerically modeled the Earth's atmosphere from the ground up through orbital altitudes, and has modeled planetary atmospheres, such as for Mars. NASA programs he has supported have included: Gemini, Saturn/Apollo, Skylab, Apollo-Soyuz, Shuttle, NASP, X-37 and many others in providing and documenting the launch conditions after each mission for engineering flight evaluation purposes. He has also been involved with the day-of-launch count down monitoring of the winds-aloft for the Shuttle program. He received a Master of Science degree from the University of Tennessee in 1982, and has also received the Astronauts 'Silver Snoopy' award in 1990 as well as the AIAA's Losey Atmospheric Sciences award in 2004. Mr. Johnson resides in Madison Alabama and has been active in Madison Baptist Church functions in furthering the Gospel from this community. He has been a member of the American Meteorological Society and the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics.
