    Honored by:

    Major O'Brien served during WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. He flew PBY-5A and SA16 amphibians. He also flew B-25s, SB-17s, L-5, L-13, C-45, C-47, C-82 and C-94s. In Korean from 1950-52, he participated in saving 12 UN personnel. He was awarded the Legion of Merit, the Distinguished Flying Cross, and five Air Medals. A graduate of Aeronautical Engineering from Purdue University, he served at Wright Field as Program Manager of the XF-105 and XF109 programs. He was Systems Manager for the F-111 and later assigned to the FAA Supersonic Transport Office. Retired to Boeing, he was manager of the USAF Tactical RPV program. He is a member of Sigma XI and The Scientific Research Society
